Mission of The National Academy
The National Academy for Academic Leadership is the first organization in the United States specifically established to provide an integrated curriculum in academic leadership. Through active involvement with The National Academy, administrators and faculty are developing the knowledge and skills to effect systemic institutional change. By strengthening academic leadership, The National Academy plays a key role in transforming the effectiveness of teaching and learning in colleges and universities.
The National Academy:
- provides programs tailored to the needs of institutions and individual professionals from all sectors of higher education, modeling the best contemporary practices in teaching and learning, and developed and taught by nationally recognized scholars and practitioners.
- provides consultation and planning services on campuses and offer rigorous courses, workshops, and seminars in cooperation with other higher education organizations.
- provides a resource-rich Web site for people in key leadership roles: board members, presidents, vice presidents, deans, department chairs, and faculty members.
The National Academy for Academic Leadership is cosponsored by Syracuse University.
Funding for the development of The National Academy has been received from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the Park Foundation and Syracuse University.
